It’s a little old, sure (1958) but I assumed from the number of courses it shows up in that it was regarded as travelblog somewhat of a classic. I was really hoping to get travelblog a copy, too… Oh well. Time to get back to some books that aren’t nearly as much fun. It’s Thursday, it’s 11:00, and it occurs to me I’m going to miss these girls. So. Classes are going, almost gone, but not before a few ten-page papers get banged out this weekend. |

It’s sort of one of those plump women books I don’t think you can plump women avoid if you’re interested in Japanese literature, especially women’s writing or modern literature. It also has relevance for those of us who tend to know a little too much about the Tale of Genji, as it references that work often; Enchi actually translated it into modern Japanese, come to think of it. I didn’t think it would be too much of a task to ask Mark to find a Japanese copy for me before he came back, but lo and behold, the book is out of print; apparently Mark went to four reputable bookstores in Kyoto and couldn’t find a copy. |
