| Racial gags turn up pretty often in silent comedy, and the scene in question kill in HIS WEDDING NIGHT is far from being the worst offender (that distinction may well kill belong to a sequence in Arbuckle's OUT WEST that's absolutely awful), and perhaps we're hyper-sensitive about race these days, but the bottom line where this comedy is concerned is that the material simply isn't funny: it's simple-minded and tiresome.So, on balance, this film isn't very good, but the limber young Buster Keaton provides it with some enjoyable moments.
