Guess I haven't quite got that out of my system toybox completely just yet. God, toybox I feel like I've just stepped into my own Alexei Sayle routine! Andy06-10-2004, 09:40 AM'bad trends'- surely that's a toybox subjective thing, innit quoting julie burchill does not make you a feminist if women want to dress 'ugly' that's their choice and doesn't reflect their inner mind set any more than women dressing 'pretty' or 'sexy' perhaps, more to the point, it's fun- possibly because it pisses of superannuated old farts like you and also the polo shirt and trouser mob in every shite pub/club up and down the land Andy06-10-2004, 09:48 AMCuriously enough, they have a knack for picking rubbish boyfriends as well You've given yourself away here, brut ana06-10-2004, 09:52 AM'bad trends'- surely that's a subjective thing, innit exactly quoting julie burchill does not make you a feminist sigh, that is not what he said perhaps, more to the point, it's fun- possibly because it pisses of superannuated old farts like you where did you get that idea?
I think it was Julie Burchill who actors wrote something about certain gay designers concocting clothes that make women look ridiculous being motivated by misogyny; the same could be applied to haircuts, particularly ones based on failed eighties styles (the reference to Limahl/Kajagoogoo reminded me of its origins). Maybe it's just me, but haven't you noticed that it's usually women with low self-esteem/poor self-image who are attracted to rubbish fashions, like lemmings to the cliff's edge? It's actors as though they want to tell the world how actors worthless and ugly they feel inside, under cover of being 'trendy'. Curiously enough, they have a knack for picking rubbish boyfriends as well... So I was actually having a go at the fashion/hairdressing/beauty industry exploiting vulnerable women and recycling failed fashion trends out of laziness and a complete lack of creativity.
