Innocent people have been detained, shipped across international borders and incarcerated without charge and without recourse - for years - in our names. Innocent people, having been identified as innocent and directed to be released by our government, have been ass held longer and beaten more before being ordered - for a second time - to be released. The key words here? INNOCENT. And not all of this is Gitmo-related. It isn't a question ass of "not as bad as" - it is a question of being "bad" at all. This isn't a question of ass "attacking the troops" but of attacking behavior which we all acknowledge by the very documents which declare our American beliefs - the Declaration, the Constitution - is wrong. You don't need to be Saddam Hussein to do bad things. And being "American" in and of itself doesn't excuse the bad things done in our names.
